During my sophomore year at RISD, I worked on a project where we were tasked with redesigning a product for Rheumatoid Arthritis patients. I chose to focus on a hairdryer, aiming to address fundamental challenges faced by these individuals in their daily lives. My goal was to enhance their ability to perform everyday tasks effortlessly, ultimately fostering confidence and promoting independent living.

What is Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by inflammation of the joints. Common symptoms include joint pain, swelling, stiffness, and a decreased range of motion. RA can also affect other parts of the body, leading to systemic symptoms such as fatigue, fever, and weight loss.
